Jennifer Berry
Beekeeping as a Practice
Jennifer Berry  is a biologist and landscape expert who consults for residential and commercial land use, including permaculture, habitat management and conservation, and ornamental gardens. In 2003 she added beekeeping to her list of interests, and has been mentoring new beekeepers and selling starter hives for over ten years.  Her fascination for insects began decades earlier when, as a diapered toddler, she found herself surrounded by a swarm of termites that crawled up her legs until they covered her whole body. This left her terrified of insects, but her mother helped her overcome this fear by taking her to the library every week to read about them.  When mom handed her a huge praying mantis at age five, Jennifer’s heart was forever changed and she became obsessed. Beekeeping was a natural progression that made Jennifer’s obsession with bugs a passion that she could share in community.
